Is my document uploaded to a server?+
Markdown, HTML, and PDF-to-text conversions run entirely in your browser — nothing is uploaded. DOCX and a few advanced formats go through CloudConvert and are deleted within minutes.
Which formats are supported?+
Markdown (.md), HTML (.html), PDF (.pdf), plain text (.txt), and DOCX (.docx). You can convert between most of these pairings.
Will my formatting be preserved?+
Headings, lists, links, and code blocks survive every conversion. Complex tables and embedded fonts work best when going through the CloudConvert path.
Is there a file-size limit?+
In-browser conversions can handle files up to a few hundred MB depending on your device. The hosted DOCX path accepts files up to 100 MB.
Does it cost anything?+
It's free for anonymous users with a fair-use rate limit. Sign in to remove the limit.
